Got questions about Croc Hinge? You’re in the right place. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about compatibility, load ratings and installation.

CROC HINGE® foldable brackets are designed to suit most popular flat roof racks:

RHINO RACK FLAT STYLES (PIONEER SERIES) 

ARB BASE RACK (requires t-slot adaptors which can be purchased directly from ARB)

ROLA TITAN requires own hardware i.e. channels nuts given our products come standard with M8 channel nuts.

YAKIMA FLAT ROOF RACKS – due to the side-to-side cross members on this style of roof rack the spacing permits the mounting of MaxTrax however TREDS requires a Bridge Plate (sold separately).

FRONT RUNNER ROOF RACKS – due to the raised outer lip that’s characteristic of this style of roof rack CROC HINGE® mounting brackets are only suitable in combination with spacers (sold separately).

DIRECT TO A CANOPY

MESH STYLE ROOF RACKS – the CROC HINGE®  Bracket will fit a flat roof rack with ‘mesh’ style flooring however you will require a bridging plate.

If you have an alternative brand of roof rack or recovery boards please send us an enquiry and we can discuss suitability.

Each set (pair) of CROC HINGE® mounting brackets has a rated load bearing capacity of 35kg.

Some customers prefer to buy a set of three awning brackets to suit their particular set up or simply for peace of mind. We offer a set of 3 standard brackets here or alternatively a set of 3 Australian made brackets here.

We offer two options for our CROC HINGE® foldable mounting brackets. 

  1. Locally made: This Australian designed product is also manufactured locally in Queensland.
  2. Made in China: Same great Aussie-engineered design and functionality, manufactured in China. 
There is no difference in functionality between the Chinese made and Australian made mounting brackets other than origin of manufacture. The imported brackets have laser etched branding but there is no difference in strength. The Chinese made awning brackets also have a black powder coat finish whilst all other variants are stainless steel finish.

Definitely, it’s an easy, do-it-yourself task. Installing CROC HINGE® foldable brackets will only take around 5 mins and literally all you need is a spanner.

Our CROC HINGE® brackets have been designed to suit most flat roof racks and
therefore do not suit basket style roof racks.

No. Firstly, we didn’t want to increase the overall product price by including pins which some people may already have. Additionally, there are many different brands of recovery boards on the market so essentially you’ll need to purchase the appropriate style to fit your specific product. These are sold separately by the manufacturers of recovery boards and we also offer the most popular brands in our Shop should you wish to bundle with your
CROC HINGE® 4×4 Bracket.
